Junior Devils Beat W-W Tigers 32-22 To End Season on High Note

October 16, 2003

The Red Devil Junior Varsity ended their 2003 season in the best possible fashion, beating the Washington-Wilkes Kittens 32-22 in TigerTown. Jefferey Porter scored 2 TDs on short runs and Josh Whimbush scored 2 TDs on a reverse and bubble pass from Branden Barden. Austin Reed scored on a reverse pass to him from Durell Norman. The JV Defense held W-W in check to capture the win. "Our boys played well for 4 quarters," reported JV coach Kevn Blizzard.

The JV lost to Elbert County 35-0 October 9. Reports indicated Elbert loaded the JV team with some varsity players, since the Blue Devil varsity had an open date.

The Junior Devils closed out their home season by coming up just short against Class AAAA Greenbrier 14-13. Offensive penalties and turnovers kept our Devils from putting away the visitors. Two Junior Devil touchdowns were called back due to flags. Greenbrier returned the opening kickoff 99 yards for their first score. They won the game with a TD and two-point conversion with only seven ticks left on the clock.
