Lady Devils Capture First Region Title, Move Into State Tourney

February 17, 2003

(From our correspondent) The Lincoln County Lady Devils became region champs for the first time in school history. The Devils fought off Twiggs County by a score of 45-41. Senior leadership shined as Raven Turner drained five 3 pointers to keep the Lady Devils in the lead for most of the game. In the waning seconds, Junior Grace Lockhart sank both of her free throws to put the Ladies up by 4 and securing the victory. The Ladies finish the season with an 18-6 overall record heading into the playoffs. Congratulations to Coach Mattison and Coach Glaze on an outstanding job this year.

The Ladies will now face Temple in the first round of the playoffs. The game will be Friday at 4:00 p.m. at Bremen High School. The winner of that game will face the winner of the Cathedral Academy/Athens Academy game in Rome at Floyd College on Feb. 27.
