Preview: GMC Stands Between Campbell & Record

October 07, 2002

From AJC.com, quoting Larry Campbell after the Commerce game: "We just have to go to work in the morning, and be back ready to kick tail next week." That's GMC Bulldog tail this Friday in Milledgeville, for the record.

GMC was expected to be a strong contender for a playoff spot in 2002, but haven't had much success yet. The Bulldogs are 2-3, including an opening-season 33-7 loss to Athens Academy, but those two wins came in their last 3 games. They are led by running back Jarvis Williams, with 900 yards this season and over 4,000 yards in his career.

The Red Devils have to quickly put the Commerce game behind them and concentrate on their first Region 7-A opponent. And, on yeah, in case anyone has forgotten, we still have that little matter of getting Coach Campbell his 347th win. Campbell teams are 11-0-0 against the Bulldogs from Milledgeville, but it took overtime in 2001 in Lincolnton to preserve that spotless record after trailing by 14. As Coach Campbell's remark indicated, the Devils have to get down to business this week.
