Lincoln County will travel to Jeffersonville this Friday to take on the Twiggs County Cobras in a Region 7-A play-in game.
While our Devils were falling to strong Aquinas 24-3 last night, the Cobras were losing 52-38 in a shootout with First Presbyterian Day. That left the Vikings and Twiggs in a tie with 3-2 subregion marks in 7-A sub A. While head-to-head usually decides two-way ties, in this case it's power ratings that decide the play-in seedings. That gives Twiggs the edge and right to host our Devils. FPD will host Hancock Central.
Aquinas will travel to Macon to challenge Stratford Academy for the Region 7-A title. The Irish, looking for their second state title in three seasons, defeated Stratford in a close game earlier this season. We wish the Irish the best the remainder of the season.
After next Friday's games, playoff seedings in Class A Public and Class A Private brackets will be decided by region championships and power ratings. Region champs will be seed highest in the appropriate bracket, based on their power ratings. Then enough other schools will be seeded by power ratings to fill-out each 16-team bracket. The top eight teams in each will host games on November 20.
Starting in 2016, the Class A playoffs will expand to 24 teams.
