Lincoln County quickly bounced back from a tough loss the week before and pounded the Commerce Tigers 35-6 on a wet Buddy Bufford Field last Friday night.
Tavious McGahee broke through on the second play from scrimmage, scoring on a 46-yard run. Commerce immediately drove the field on 13 plays, with a 20-yard TD run capping the drive and tying the game at 6-all.
Less than 2 minutes later, A. G. Middlebrooks scored on a 30-yard run to give our Devils a lead they would never lose. His 35-yard pass reception from Bo Reed with 5:53 left in the half gave the Devils a 19-6 lead. Josh Sims scored from the 1 for the 25-6 halftime margin.
Second-string QB Franklin Sherman scored from the 1 and Vance Tarver booted a 30-yard field goal in the third quarter for the final 35-6 margin.
Lincoln County, now 4-1, travels to Augusta to play Aquinas next Friday night.
